About Me

Note: I am in the process of updating this site. More to come!

Caitlin Johnson, multimedia journalistJournalism profiles are as bad as dating site profiles. Sorry.

That being said, here’s a brief summary:

I am a writing-focused multimedia journalist with a versatile background, able to adapt my writing style to fit any task at hand. I have produced detailed copy for legal websites, crafted witty beer descriptions for a brewery, garnered social media interest for Portland’s largest Cinco de Mayo festival, and currently satisfy my inner-nerd through video game news reporting. Whatever your story, I have the skills to tell it to your audience in an accurate and captivating way.

Back in the day (it feels so long ago now), I was trained by some very talented journalists-turned-professors at San Diego State University, where I completed my bachelor’s in journalism in 2014. While in school I worked to stay afloat (good ol’ Southern California living, am I right?), and was hired as a paid staff writer for The Daily Aztec, the campus’ student-run newspaper. During my final semester I was promoted to copy chief, and oversaw copy editing for the entire publication. Simultaneously I worked in the field as a multimedia newsroom intern with KPBS, venturing to various locations throughout San Diego, video camera in hand, to capture news stories for web and TV. Both positions greatly helped shape my writing/copy editing skills.

There’s much more to the story than that. If you’re really itching to know, feel free to send me a line (or leave some criticism; I can take it) via email at caitlin[dot]j[dot]johnson[at]gmail[dot]com.
